2025 FIM SUPERMOTO OF NATIONS WORLD CHAMPIONS

Dominated by France every year since 2014, this season the FIM SuperMoto of Nations was staged at Vysoké Mýto in the Czech Republic where the Austrian trio of Lukas Hollbacher – KTM, Andreas Buschberger – Husqvarna and Bernhard Hitzenberger – Husqvarna produced an upset when they claimed the title by a single point from Germany to become only the fourth nation to win the Zerbi Trophy since its inception in 2006.

With each country dropping its lowest score, there is very little margin for error and France’s bid to make it eleven consecutive victories was derailed by two poor scores that left them fourth out of the nine teams competing.

The opening race was won by Germany’s newly-crowned five-time FIM S1GP SuperMoto World Champion Marc-Reiner Schmidt – TM with Buschberger fourth and Hitzenberger, who replaced Rudolf Bauer for 2025, eleventh.

It may have been an inauspicious start, but race two saw the Austrians firmly on top when Hollbacher came through from a mid-pack start to pass his team-mate Buschberger for victory on the final lap.

With the destination of the title in the balance, Hollbacher kept his cool in the deciding race and after taking the lead on lap three he was never headed again as he brought it home over four seconds ahead of Schmidt to seal the deal.
