BOLT FROM THE RED, WHITE AND BLUE!

Bolt by name, Bolt by nature! Since his switch from trial, William ‘Billy’ Bolt (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna) has established himself as a tough man in an even tougher sport and this year he continued to shine, adding the first-ever FIM Hard Enduro World Championship title to what is becoming an increasingly impressive CV.

Already a two-time World-beater, Bolt was victorious first time out at Portugal’s Extreme XL Lagares that was abbreviated due to the pandemic and bad weather.

With the fabled Red Bull Erzbergrodeo cancelled because of Covid, Bolt opened up a lead with a win at July’s Abestone Hard Enduro in Italy before tasting defeat for the first time this year when he came home fourth at the Romaniacs two weeks later, staged high in the Carpathian Mountains of Romania.

Another win at round five of the series – the Tennessee Knockout Extreme Enduro in mid-August – put him on the front foot again, though Bolt still trailed Manuel Lettenbichler (Red Bull KTM) by a single point heading into Poland’s HERO Challenge where a second-placed finish behind South Africa’s Wade Young (Sherco), but ahead of the German handed him the championship lead.

Next up was the Hixpania Hard Enduro in Spain at the start of October where another solid second helped Bolt to consolidate his lead before he clinched the crown with the runner-up position at a tense series finale at Germany’s Getzenrodeo.
