FIM JUNIORGP WORLD CHAMPION
Born into a family of motorcycle enthusiasts, it was perhaps inevitable that Brian Uriarte – KTM would race, but while he was learning the basics of balance no-one could have predicted that by the age of seventeen he would be the FIM JuniorGP™ World Champion.
Dominated by Spaniards since 2018, the class has represented an important stepping stone for racers including Álex Márquez and formerFIM MotoGP™ Grand Prix World ChampionFabio Quartararo and Uriarte took a major step on the career ladder this season.
Starting with victory in the sole points-paying race at Estoril in Portugal in early May, Uriarte then extended his lead with a double win at Jerez at the beginning of June.
He suffered a setback when he finished tenth one month later at Magny-Cours in France, although after claiming eighth in the opening race at Aragon in Spain at the end of July, he returned to the top in race two.
Heading to Misano in Italy in late-September, a two-one card saw him extend his advantage and when the series returned to Spain at the start of November he sewed up the crown with one round remaining with two second-placed finishes at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
