2025 FIM MOTO2 WORLD CHAMPION
After getting his motorcycling career off to a high-flying start in the sport of Motocross in his native Brazil, Diogo Moreira – Kalex relocated to Europe in 2017 to chase his road racing ambitions and this season his commitment was rewarded with the FIM Moto2™ Grand Prix World Championship.
Contested across a twenty-two-round calendar that took competitors to nineteen countries and five continents over an incredibly intense eight-and-a-half-month period, this season’s Moto2™ title fight was extremely hard-fought and went all the way down to the wire at the final round of the season.
Moreira did not turn many heads at the start of the year, in fact the twenty-one-year-old had to wait until round seven in Great Britain for his first podium finish and by this point he was fifth in the championship and over forty points from the lead.
However, this proved to be the turning point of the season for Moreira and across the next fifteen races he finished on the podium eight times – including four victories – and, despite also failing to score twice during this period, he travelled to the final round in Spain in full control where an eleventh-placed finish gave him the crown by twenty-nine points.
