For the second consecutive year, the FIM announces carbon neutrality at its top annual event, the General Assembly and the FIM Awards.
A number of activities aimed at organising a sustainable event with emissions reduction measures, such as less polluting means of transport, electric mobility, sustainable gastronomy, and certified green venues, amongst other things, all focus on reducing the carbon footprint and presenting events aligned with the FIM sustainability strategy. In addition, the event will have a heavy social component since various activities have been organised before and during the event, leaving an enormous legacy in the region.
These include conferences focused on sustainability in motorcycling, future generations and motorcycling tourism as a facilitator of sustainable development.
ATPI HALO has sponsored the investment in a portfolio of certified carbon offset projects, neutralizing the event’s carbon footprint and benefitting communities by supporting a variety of Sustainable Development Goals.
The climate strategy of the Federation's administrative events also adheres to a number of sporting events aimed at reducing the carbon footprint, serving as a laboratory for the industry and raising awareness in the community.
The FIM has maintained leadership in the organisation of electric-powered categories events and started racing on circuits in 2010 with the FIM E-Power International Championship – the predecessor of the current Moto E series – and in recent years, off-road competition. With the FIM E Bike Enduro World Cup, the FIM E-X Bike.
Kattia Juárez, FIM Sustainability Commission Director explained: “Every year more sustainability is embedded in all the organisation´s activities. Therefore, it is an opportunity to work together with all FIM Departments and with the most extraordinary sponsors supporting FIM purpose to organise more sustainable events. I am thrilled to steer the FIM awards sustainability communication campaign for the second year, working with talented artists who designed the characters, animation and gave life to our story.”
Pippa Ganderton (ATPI Director of Global Account Management): “Once again, we are very proud to have the opportunity to collaborate with the FIM on this hugely important event and to be able to reinforce their sustainability campaign and associated communications which have now become an integral part of the FIM General Assembly and the FIM Awards. We have identified some amazing certified nature-based projects, which we are supporting on behalf of the FIM in order to offset the impact of their activities and to bring benefits to less fortunate communities who are grateful to be part of this holistic approach.”
