2025 FIM SPEEDWAY YOUTH WORLD CHAMPION (SGP3)
Absolute determination and self-belief is often at the core of any success, this has never been truer than in the case of fifteen-year-old Danish dynamo Villads Pedersen who demonstrated his ability to dig deep and defy the odds when he raced to the FIM Speedway Youth World Championship (SGP3) on a dramatic night in the Czech Republic at the end of May.
Pedersen was fourth in 2024 and made the cut for this year’s SGP3 Final – for riders aged under sixteen years old on 250cc machines – in Prague’s Stadion Marketa via the Semi-Finals in Krško in Slovenia, but the evening started badly for him when he trailed home in fourth in the programme’s opening Heat.
This no-score could have ended his challenge before it had even begun, but following a motivational talk from three-time FIM Speedway World Champion Erik Gundersen, the highly-respected coach and mentor to Denmark’s youth prospects, Pedersen looked like a different rider the next time he rolled up behind the tapes.
With the title on the line, Pedersen powered to four consecutive victories to clinch the crown on a total of twelve points, just one ahead of Slovenia’s Sven Cerjak.
