2025 FIM LONG TRACK WORLD CHAMPION

A silver medallist in 2022 and a bronze medallist last season, this year Britain’s Zach Wajtknecht completed his set of FIM medals when he struck gold to finally be crowned as FIM Long Track World Champion following an incredibly tense four-round series.

Consistency is key to any successful championship campaign and the twenty-seven-year-old got off to a strong start when he finished second behind defending champion Martin Smolinski at the series opener in Mühldorf at the start of July.

Next up was Marmande in France only one week later where Wajtknecht dominated, dropping just a single point in the Heat stages before taking a tapes-to-flag victory in the Grand Final – his first in almost three years – to move into the championship lead.

However, when the title fight moved to Scheessel in Germany in August his championship ambitions suffered a body blow when he was limited to a fifth-placed finish after being penalised for a crash in the Grand Final, leaving him trailing former champion Lukas Fienhage by two points heading into the deciding round.

Digging deep at Roden in the Netherlands in September, he kept his composure and a rock-solid second-place finish in the Grand Final earned him the crown.
